  • Finish identifying purpose in each part of three-part structure.
  • parallelism-repetition of grammatically similar phrases or clauses for emphasis. Find two examples of parallelism through the reading. What is Jefferson's purpose in each of these cases?
  • Read Elizabeth Cady Stanton, excerpt from "Declaration of Sentiments"
  • How is Stanton's structure similar to Jefferson's declaration? What effect does she achieve in using this structure?
  • Find an example of parallelism. What is Stanton's purpose in this example?
Review Puritans and Rationalists, ideas and readings.
